
Todd Michaelsen is a singer-songwriter and music producer living in Brooklyn, NY. He performs around the world under his own name and formerly in his critically acclaimed rock band My Pet Dragon. His anthemic music has been featured in films, TV, and national ad campaigns.
He is a multi-instrumentalist that specializes in melodic songwriting. His tenor voice and ear for melody has earned him collaborations with some of the world's most talented artists including Anoushka Shankar and Karsh Kale, on their Grammy nominated "Breathing Under Water", which also featured contributions from Sting and Norah Jones.
Todd's song Moonshine- released under the band name My Pet Dragon - was licensed for a national TV spot for America's first legal moonshine company, Ole Smoky Tennessee Moonshine. Moonshine can also be heard in the feature film “Then Came You” starring Maisie Williams. He also sang and co-wrote another song called Airborne which was licensed for the film. Airborne is co-sung with his wife, multi-disciplinary artist Reena Shah.
Todd composed the original soundtrack score and contributed original songs for the award-winning animated feature film "Sita Sings the Blues" by Nina Paley. Todd's original song Love Anthem was invited to be on the "Occupy This" album which featured music by Patti Smith, Yoko Ono, Third Eye Blind, Joan Baez, Crosby & Nash and Ani DiFranco among others.
He's won songwriting awards from ASCAP and The International Songwriting Competition.
Todd is releasing new music single by single. The songs are uplifting and intense, layered with ethereal rock guitar, heavy drums, and powerful vocals.
